Finished writing another song last night. I've crossed the threshold on this album where I sort of have some idea of what it's going to sound like and feel like, and I'm starting to see where the gaps are and how they need to be filled. It's fun. There's a lot of stuff left to do, but it still feels good. It's like I've been wandering around randomly in the middle of nowhere for a couple of years, and now I'm starting to see signs of civilization cropping up.

Things are continuing to develop nicely. Practices with the drummer are going well. We're still just a few weeks away from booking shows, which I'll obviously keep you posted on. Edwin from Industrial Strength Nightmares is going to be sending us some interview questions pretty soon, and we'll be doing an audio interview once that's all prepared. Songwriting for the new record is continuing to go well, also. I wound up working on something this weekend that I wasn't anticipating, and now I think I'm sitting on the first track for the record, which is about all I can ask for.

Somehow I went this long without knowing the word "dilettante." You ever have the experience of learning that a concept that you've thought about a lot already has a word for it and people who think about it less are tossing it around and confusing you with it?

So, there's a photo. It's not great, but I'll get better ones soon. Totally promise. I think everything's pretty much set in the new place, and I'm getting slowly back into focus with the new songs. We're about ready to move forward with the live show, as well. Just a matter of polishing a couple of things up. It's been a wait, I guess, but I think the progress will be audible.

I feel really good. I'm falling back in love with noisy stuff, which I've been away from for the last couple of years. I'm starting to get a little more clarity about what it is that I want to do production wise, and I think that it's starting to work together with what I'm writing. I'm optimistic.

We ran through some new vocal processing stuff for the live show yesterday. It's going to be really cool. Also, I wrote the bulk of a song that I think will be equally cool on Sunday. So... pretty good weekend overall, right?

We're at the stage of preparing for the live show where little gestures and performance details are getting ironed out. It's possible that we're having too much fun with it, but I think it's going to work out well. We're going to be rounding out the lineup pretty soon, and then it's just a matter of time before we're fully off the ground. Try and look forward to that, mmkay?

This article has helped me focus on something. I've long realized that people in my peer group are experiencing a newly long tail on the end of the adolescence. Old news, right? But what this article brings into focus for me is why it is that this lingering non-adulthood means that people in my peer group generally listen to terrible music.

I feel like I spend a lot of energy trying to determine which of the things that I'm unable to care about are things that I should feel bad for not caring about, and which of the things that I'm unable to care about I should feel good for not caring about.
